我的研究My Research

我的研究通过田野调查、实验与工程设计，探索生态学、生物学与可持续性。每个项目问题不同，但目标一致：理解人类活动与自然世界如何相互作用。 My research explores ecology, biology, and sustainability through fieldwork, lab work, and engineering design. Each project asks a different question, but they all share one goal: understanding how human activity and the natural world interact.

黄河生态研究：田野、影像与水质Yellow River Ecology: Fieldwork, Film, and Water Quality

这个项目始于一次理解黄河生态健康的尝试。通过野外采样、水质分析与纪录片拍摄，我探索了人类活动、环境变化与河流生态系统如何交汇。我采集水样、记录生态观察，并制作了一部纪录片，让研究走出实验室。它让我明白：环境问题从来不只是科学问题——它们关乎社会、关乎视觉，也关乎人本身。 This project began as an effort to understand the ecological health of the Yellow River. Through field sampling, water quality analysis, and documentary filmmaking, I explored how human activity, environmental change, and river ecosystems intersect. I collected water samples, documented ecological observations, and produced a documentary to make the research accessible beyond the lab. The project taught me that environmental problems are never just scientific — they are social, visual, and deeply human.

UC 伯克利线上研究：河流鱼类演化与水质UC Berkeley Online Research: River Fish Evolution and Water Quality

在加州大学伯克利分校一位教授的指导下，我开展了线上研究，探索河流鱼类演化与水质之间的关系。项目加深了我对环境因素如何塑造生物适应与生态系统可持续性的理解。研究成果以会议论文形式发表，是我第一次体验学术写作与同行评审发表。 Under the mentorship of a UC Berkeley professor, I conducted online research exploring the relationship between river fish evolution and water quality. The project deepened my understanding of how environmental factors shape biological adaptation and ecosystem sustainability. The research was published as a conference paper, marking my first experience with academic writing and peer-reviewed publication.

CTB：大米象甲研究CTB: Studying the Rice Weevil

在 CTB 项目中，我研究了大米象甲，探索其生物特征、行为与生态关系。这一项目帮助我培养了实验设计、系统观察与科学展示的能力。 For CTB, I studied the rice weevil and explored its biological characteristics, behavior, and ecological relationships. This project helped me develop skills in experimental design, systematic observation, and scientific presentation.

04 iGEM · 巴黎总决赛iGEM · Paris Final

iGEM：站在全球舞台的合成生物学iGEM: Synthetic Biology on the Global Stage

我参与了 iGEM（国际基因工程机器大赛），并通过线上展示参加了巴黎总决赛。我们团队聚焦生物工程与可持续性，将合成生物学应用于真实世界的环境挑战。这段经历提升了我跨学科协作、以生物工程师的思维方式，以及向国际受众沟通复杂科学的能力。 I participated in iGEM, the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition, and competed in the Paris Final via online presentation. Our team focused on biological engineering and sustainability, applying synthetic biology to real-world environmental challenges. The experience strengthened my ability to collaborate across disciplines, think like a bioengineer, and communicate complex science to an international audience.

Conrad 挑战赛：无人机与可持续农业Conrad Challenge: Drones for Sustainable Agriculture

在 Conrad 挑战赛中，我参与了一个探索如何用无人机更科学、更可持续地喷洒农药的项目。目标是减少化学品浪费、提升精度，并将对土壤与水系统的环境影响降到最低。它让我看到：工程方案与生态意识并非对立，而是可以协同。 For the Conrad Challenge, I worked on a project exploring how drones can be used to spray pesticides more scientifically and sustainably. The goal was to reduce chemical waste, improve precision, and minimize environmental impact on soil and water systems. This project showed me that engineering solutions and ecological awareness are not opposites — they can work together.

影像与文字Image & Word

我用不同的尺度记录自然世界——从叶片上隐藏的微观生态，到用大画幅胶片记录的广阔风景，再到用纪录片讲述的故事。每一种方式都在问同一个问题：当我们不够仔细地去看，我们会错过什么？ I document the natural world at different scales — from the microscopic ecosystems hidden on a leaf, to the vast landscapes recorded through large-format film, to the stories told through documentary. Each approach asks the same question: what do we miss when we don't look closely enough?

微距：眼底的小世界Close Up: The Small Worlds Beneath Our Eyes

通过微距摄影，我研究栖居在植物表面的微小生态——昆虫、芽、纹理与结构，那些大多数人走过却未留意的一切。这些影像不只是审美，更是一种科学观察。 Through close-up photography, I study the tiny ecosystems living on plant surfaces — insects, buds, textures, and structures that most people walk past without noticing. These images are not just aesthetic — they are a form of scientific observation.

慢光：以耐心记录自然Slow Light: Recording Nature with Patience

大画幅摄影让我慢下来。它逼我在按下快门前先观察光、空间与细节。对我而言，它不只是技法，更是一种以耐心与诚实记录世界的方式。 Large-format photography slows me down. It forces me to observe light, space, and detail before pressing the shutter. For me, it is not just a photographic technique, but a way of recording the world with patience and honesty.

动态：纪录片与视觉叙事In Motion: Documentary and Visual Storytelling

我用影像把研究翻译成故事。一部纪录片能让数据变得可见；一张照片能让一个问题难以忘怀。我的作品包括生态纪录片、科学摄影，以及将视觉叙事与跨学科协作结合的舞台设计。 I use film and photography to translate research into stories. A documentary can make data visible; a photograph can make an issue unforgettable. My work includes ecological documentaries, scientific photography, and stage design projects that combine visual storytelling with interdisciplinary collaboration.

在我开始科学研究之前，我首先通过外交与辩论学会了如何思考全球议题；而我的研究也始终指向公众——让知识走出实验室，被人看见。 Before my scientific research, I first learned to think about global issues through diplomacy and debate; and my research has always pointed back to the public — making knowledge leave the lab and be seen.

联合国日内瓦：代表埃及发声United Nations Geneva: Representing Egypt on Global Health Policy

2025 年 9 月，我前往瑞士日内瓦的联合国办事处，参加一场模拟联合国会议。我代表埃及，提出了一项关于全球公共卫生政策的决议，重点关注医疗资源的可及性与医疗公平。当时我尚未开始生态研究或摄影项目。但那次经历重塑了我看待世界的方式——它让我明白，地方问题始终与全球体系相连，政策、科学与人性的故事必须被放在一起理解。 In September 2025, I traveled to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in a Model United Nations session. I represented Egypt and proposed a resolution on global public health policy, focusing on access to medical resources and healthcare equity. At the time, I had not yet begun my ecological research or photography projects. But that experience shaped how I think about the world — it taught me that local problems are always connected to global systems, and that policy, science, and human stories must be understood together.

公众科普：让研究被看见Public Outreach: Making Research Seen

我把黄河生态研究拍成纪录片、写成文章，面向同学与公众做分享，让环境问题不只是实验室里的数据，而是能被理解、被关心的事。我相信，好的科学应当走出学术圈，回到它关心的那片土地与人。 I turned my Yellow River research into a documentary and essays, sharing them with classmates and the public — so that environmental issues are not just data in a lab, but something understood and cared about. Good science, I believe, should leave academia and return to the land and people it cares about.
